This expectation is the result of a research study in which our weather-aware, calculated sunset times were compared with the timings of actual sunset observations. We have found that our calculated sunset times are almost always accurate within 0.06°.

This research study is ongoing, and the text here will be updated from time to time as further information is ascertained.

In the table below, the equivalent of 0.12° (i.e. plus or minus 0.06°) is expressed in seconds for the longest day of the year, in a variety of cities. The closer a city is to the equator, the shorter its timespan of uncertainty.
